Alumna Michelle Tseng joins the LA Phil

Violinist Michelle Tseng (’13, GCRT ’17), an alumna of the USC Thornton Strings program, recently joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil) as a Second Violinist. She has performed as a soloist with the Torrance, Downey, Peninsula, South Coast, USC, and Rio Hondo Symphonies and served as concertmaster under conductors David Robertson, Alan Gilbert, and Jaap van Zweden, among others.

At USC, Tseng studied with Alice Schoenfeld and completed her Bachelor of Music Magna Cum Laude, continuing on to earn her Graduate Certificate under Glenn Dicterow. Tseng won the USC Thornton Concerto Competition as a freshman and later served as concertmaster of the USC Thornton Symphony.

Tseng began performing with the LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl this summer. The orchestra returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall next month to begin its 2017-18 season with an all-Mozart gala concert on September 26.
