Cellist Peter Myers wins position with San Francisco Opera orchestra

USC Thornton alumnus Peter Myers (MM ’10, GCRT ’13) is the new associate principal cello of the San Francisco Opera. In November, he was selected from a pool of over 50 invited cellists to join the company’s orchestra. A founding member of both the Saguaro Piano Trio and the SAKURA cello quintet, Myers has served as a Young Artist in Residence of the Da Camera Society in Los Angeles since 2013.

Alumnus Yoshika Masuda (GCRT ’12, DMA ’16), also student of faculty member Ralph Kirshbaum, was first runner up for the position with the San Francisco Opera. He is currently adjunct professor of cello at both Loyola Marymount University and California Lutheran University in Los Angeles.
