Michael Groome

Michael Groome is an electric bassist, singer, composer/songwriter and performance artist. He received his Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music in Popular Music Bass Performance. During his time at the university, Groome studied bass with Alphonso Johnson and piano with David Arnay. His studies involved performance, theory, education, orchestration, composition and songwriting. Having a passion for experimental performance, Groome spent several semesters studying modern classical works and the history of modern visual art.

His most notable performances have occurred through his experimental rock/performance art group Unctuous Rump, which recorded its first album in 2015. Concerts often emphasize audience participation and Dadaist humor as much as the music, which can be described as fast, dissonant, and convulsive. Groome has also contributed bass and backing vocals to the rock band dale (music and videos at daleband.com) and lead vocals to the noise rock band Prissy Whip.
