Pianist Steven Vanhauwaert releases two new albums

USC Thornton alumnus Steven Vanhauwaert (MM ’06, GCRT ’08, piano) released two collaborative albums last month, “Joseph Woelfl: The Paris Years” and “Pensées Intimes” (“Intimate Thoughts”). Both recordings were created in collaboration with violinist and UCLA professor Guillaume Sutre.

The first album, “Joseph Woelfl: The Paris Years,” which also features Kyunghee Kim-Sutre on the harp, explores recently rediscovered works by Woelfl from 1801 to 1805. The second album is a World War I remembrance and serves as the first volume in “The Musicians and the Great War” series, featuring works from 1914 to 1918 by composers Hans Pfitzner, F.S. Kelly, Georges Antoine and Lili Boulanger. Vanhauwaert will also record a solo CD for the series, which is produced by French independent label Editions Hortus.
