Thornton Opera’s “Iphigénie en Tauride” reviewed in LA Times

The USC Thornton Opera Program‘s recent production of Gluck’s “Iphigénie en Tauride” received a positive review in the Los Angeles Times. Writer Mark Swed noted that “The USC production by Ken Cazan brought some of the underlying violence to the surface but without compromising the refined beauty of Gluck’s near-perfect score.” Swed went on to distinguish soprano Yelena Dyachek as a “commanding” Iphigenia and baritone David Castillo as “an impassioned” Orestes.
