Thornton Winners at Los Angeles International Liszt Competition

Several students of the USC Thornton Keyboard Studies department took prizes at the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition held last month at Azusa Pacific University. Hanbo Ma (pictured at left), a DMA candidate under professor Daniel Pollack, won the top prize in the prestigious Budapest Concert Division, earning a solo recital tour to Washington D.C., London, and the Liszt Museum in Budapest, Hungary.

Undergraduate student Marika Mori tied for 3rd prize in the Budapest Concert Division, while GCRT candidate Hyun Jeong Lee took 5th prize and fellow GCRT candidate Hyunwoo Shin received an honorable mention. DMA candidate Seonmi Lee won the top prize in Division V for pianists aged 21-35.
