USC Thornton sextet Cardinal Winds selected for Coleman Competition Finals and Plowman Competition Semi-Finals

USC Thornton woodwind sextet Cardinal Winds was selected for the Coleman Chamber Ensemble Competition Finals. Cardinal Winds was formed at USC in 2014. Its members are Catherine Baker, flute (GCRT), Zachary Pulse, oboe (GCRT), Kelsi Doolittle, clarinet (MM), Alex Garcia, bassoon (MM ’13), Carrie Rexroat, horn (MM) and Hedy Lee, piano (DMA ‘13).

The Coleman Competition began in 1947 and has become a highly respected international event. The finals will be held on April 18, 2015 at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music. Past winners of the competition include Thornton faculty members Jeffrey Kahane and Glenn Dicterow.

The Cardinal Winds, who also advanced to the Semi-Finals round of the Plowman Chamber Music Competition in Columbus, Missouri, will perform on March 29 in Shumei Hall in Pasadena.
