Vocal Arts alumnus Timur Bekbosunov featured on PRI’s The World

USC Thornton Vocal Arts alumus Timur Bekbosunov (GCRT ’06) was recently profiled by Public Radio International (PRI) for it’s radio program, The World. The operatic tenor and glam-rock band-leader has found great success in Southern California, performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, REDCAT, wildUp, Long Beach Opera and the Industry – as well as nationally, with Bang On A Can All-Stars, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), American Repertory Theater, Opera Boston and the Spoleto Festival, among others.

“I really began to enter this really strange, beautiful world of sometimes abstract, and sometimes ephemeral, way of singing,” Bekbosunov told The World. “It’s kind of an out-of-body experience when you sing.”

Bekbosunov’s glam-rock band, Timur and the Dime Museum, will present their show, Collapse, at BAM’s Next Wave Festival in September.
