Alumni Aron Kallay, Vicki Ray and Andrew McIntosh commended in New Yorker review of Morton Feldman celebration

Alumni Aron Kallay (DMA ’09), Vicki Ray (DMA ’88) and Andrew McIntosh (GCRT ’12) have been commended for their performances in Morton Feldman’s honor in the Piano Spheres series celebrating his centennial birthday on Jan. 12th. An ode to Feldman’s music in The New Yorker by music critic Alex Ross covers the celebration of the Thornton composer/performers’ contributions.

Ross describes Kallay’s rendition of For Bunita Marcus as having “an otherworldly serenity” in a performance that featured “phenomenal focus and finesse.” “Brilliant composer” McIntosh and Ray’s “For John Cage” was “especially striking.”
