USC Thornton faculty, students and alumni featured at California Association of Professional Music Teachers State Conference

USC Thornton faculty, students and alumni were featured prominently at the 2021 California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT) state conference, held at California State University, Fresno on Oct. 15-16.

Antoinette Perry, a faculty member in the USC Thornton Keyboard Studies Program, was honored as the 2021 recipient of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT) Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated leadership and service in their music community over time.

Several current and former Thornton students also participated in the conference. Eloise Kim (DMA ’20), Evelyn Lee (MM ’18), and Tracy Wong presented a session together, while Joshua Tan (DMA ’20) and Sun-A Park (MM ’20, GCRT ’16) each presented a solo session. Wong also performed in a masterclass, while Wong and Kim performed during the conference’s Young Professionals Leadership Network (YPLN) recital. Kim received an award for Article of the Year for her piece on teaching piano to students with autism.
