As part of the Fall 2021 Signature Series, the USC Polish Music Center presents the annual Paderewski Lecture-Recital, honoring the 25th death anniversary of Mieczysław Weinberg (1919- 1996)—an exceptionally prolific Polish-Jewish composer whose recognition, both during his lifetime and today, has been overshadowed by the turbulent times in which he lived. The event will feature a lecture by Weinberg expert and author, Danuta Gwizdalanka, followed by a program of his selected solo piano works and Sonata No. 2 for Cello and Piano. The recital will be performed by pianists Grzegorz Mania and Piotr Różanski and cellist Bartosz Koziak, of the Society of Polish Chamber Musicians.
USC Thornton’s Signature Series will be open to limited audiences. RSVPs and COVID-19 Safety Protocols will be required (see more below).
