Gloria Cheng releases album in tribute to Steven Stucky

Pianist Gloria Cheng (DMA ’91), an alumna of the USC Thornton Keyboard Studies program, recently released an album in tribute to the late composer Steven Stucky, who passed away in 2016. Garlands for Steven Stucky features 24 short works by composers who knew Stucky, personally, including Thornton Composition chair Donald Crockett, a long-time friend of the composer, and Composition DMA candidate Julia Adolphe (MM ’12). New Music USA published an article on the project by Cheng, who first met Stucky at the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 1988.

The album is available for purchase on Amazon and iTunes and proceeds will be donated to the Steven Stucky Composer Fellowship Fund, established by the Los Angeles Philharmonic to honor Stucky’s vision of engaging young composers, and currently administered by Thornton faculty member Andrew Norman.
