Jackie Lopez, a first-generation Los Angeles native, was the first member of her family to graduate high school and college. A Summa cum laude graduate of UCLA, she credits her love of the arts with this success and has dedicated her career inspiring this same fondness of the arts in future generations children.
Over the last 20 years, Lopez has traveled the nation and the world working as a professional dancer, choreographer, teaching artist and cultural educator. She is the Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director & Choreographer of the Versa-Style Dance Company and Versa-Style Next Generation, non-profit touring companies. Versa-Style is a professional touring company providing dancers from the inner city to thrive as full dance professionals, while also providing arts programming to the youth in underserved communities in Los Angeles. She has created a pipeline in which many first-generation students have benefited both artistically and academically.
Jackie is also the Executive Director for The Flourish Foundation, a non-profit private philanthropic organization, which began as a response to lack of funding in the arts. The scope of the foundation’s work includes providing numerous scholarships to high school and undergraduate students who are pursuing careers in the arts and education and awarding grants to LA area community artists/groups and public schools within Los Angeles.
