
Sharon Lavery conducts the LA Phil’s “Holiday Brass” concert
On Dec. 16, USC Thornton Winds & Percussion Program Chair Sharon Lavery led the brass and percussion sections of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for their “Holiday Brass” concert in Walt Disney Concert Hall, as part of the Deck the Hall concert series.
The performance featured USC Thornton faculty member Thomas Hooten and several alumni, including Sarah Bauzá (DMA ’12), Laura Brenes (MM ’02), David Riccobono (MM ’19, GCRT ’22), Matthew Howard (BM ’12), Jeremy Davis (BM ’23), Jake Reed (MM ’10, DMA ’13) and Weicheng Zhao (MM ’14, DMA ’18).
The orchestra performed Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” Handel’s “Joy to the World,” Anthony DiLorenzo’s adaptation of “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,” a mash-up of Hanukkah classics and more.
