ENSEMBLES
USC Thornton Chamber Singers continue to uphold artistic excellence, innovation, and diversity and inclusion through song. They are recipients of numerous awards including the American Prize in choral performance at the American Choral Directors Association National Conference (ACDA) and the ACDA Western Division Conference. Their international successes include the XII International Festival of Choral Music in Beijing, as well as performing at the X World Symposium on Choral Music in Seoul, South Korea. Thornton Chamber Singers have also toured Ireland, Taiwan, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, New Zealand and Australia.
Previous conductors of the ensemble have included Max Krone, Charles Hirt, James Vail, Rodney Eichenberger, William Dehning, Paul Salamunovich and Jo-Michael Scheibe.
Chamber Singers membership ranges from 30-40 auditioned singers from year to year. The ensemble is conducted by faculty member Dr. Tram Sparks and a doctoral Choral Music student as Associate Conductor.
Conductor Tram Sparks is Chair and Associate Professor of Practice at the School of Music.

Chamber Singers is offered at USC Thornton through the Choral and Sacred Music Program.
Chamber Singers typically perform one solo concert every fall and spring semester, in addition to joining the entire choral department at the annual Winter Gala.
Notable performances include Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem and Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna at Disney Concert Hall, and Gabriel Faure’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall. Recent concerts included compositions by Meredith Monk, Joel Thompson, Ko Matsushita, Caroline Shaw, William Byrd and Johannes Brahms.
