Faculty Member Jonathan Azu receives first-ever BMAC Music Maker Impact Award

On January 29th, 2026—USC Thornton Music Industry faculty member Jonathan Azu received the inaugural Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) Music Maker Award. The honor was given by Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Victoria Monet at the BMAC Music Maker Dinner at the Sun Rose in Hollywood, part of the coalition’s Grammy week parties.

The award recognized Azu—the Culture Collective founder—for his “leadership and commitment to advancing long-term music careers.” You can learn about the night by reading this Variety article.
