Thornton/LIVE: A Virtual Stage

With the USC Thornton School of Music remaining online for the fall semester, we’ve launched a new, virtual stage, Thornton/LIVE.
The show must go on. The transition to remote learning profoundly changed how we approach music education, but artistic excellence remains a constant. Our students and faculty have proven both exceedingly innovative under these new paradigms, and remarkably resilient in their pursuit of their art.
And so, as remote learning continues through the Fall 2020 semester, USC Thornton has launched a new virtual stage, Thornton/LIVE, featuring online events and performances for the entire community. Though we can’t yet perform together in person, the new Thornton/LIVE website will be a place to enjoy music from our departments, ensembles and students from around the world.
On Sept. 15, the first in a series of four virtual concerts by the Thornton Edge new music ensemble will air on Thornton/LIVE.
The first online event will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 15 with the first in a series of four virtual concerts by new music ensemble Thornton Edge. This summer, members of Thornton Edge performed works at home by student, alumni and faculty composers in Thornton’s celebrated Composition program. In the Sept. 15 concert, Thornton students perform works by ensemble director Donald Crockett, master’s student Aidan Gold, and Composition faculty member Veronika Krausas.
The virtual concert will premiere at 6:00 pm (PST) and will be viewable for 24 hours to accommodate the Thornton community and audience members spread across the globe.
