Midori named a Kennedy Center Honoree for 2021

Celebrated violinist Midori, who served on the USC Thornton faculty for 14 years until 2018 and is currently a Judge Widney Professor of Music at USC, was named a Kennedy Center Honoree for 2021. This year’s award, which celebrates a lifetime of artistic achievement, also includes Debbie Allen, Joan Baez, Garth Brooks, and Dick Van Dyke.

“The Kennedy Center Honors serves as a moment to celebrate the remarkable artists who have spent their lives elevating the cultural history of our nation and world … with an international presence for over 35 years, violinist Midori combines graceful precision and expression for performances building connections between art and the human experience,” said Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein.

A live broadcast on CBS will air on June 6, 9:00 p.m. EST.
