On-Campus Admitted Student Events
Throughout the spring, USC and the Thornton School offer a variety of on-campus opportunities to help admitted students connect with the Trojan Family. Below are the events that will also include opportunities to connect directly with the Thornton School of Music. We strongly recommend attending one of these events! If you can’t make it to one of these admitted student events, USC Admission is also hosting admitted student campus tours and off-campus Explore USC events throughout April. - Explore USC Weekday Events: March 31, April 3, April 7, April 17 and April 22
- This program includes options for a neighborhood and campus tour and various information sessions including a USC Thornton Department Session. Visiting admitted students will also have the opportunity to dine in a residence hall with current Thornton students.
- Explore USC Open House: Sunday, April 13th
- This full-day open house is ideal for families wishing to visit campus on a weekend. Attend campus and residence hall tours, various information sessions and connect directly with the Thornton School at the following sessions:
- “The Contemporary Experience” (10:00 AM in Carson Center): Join faculty and current students from the Division of Contemporary Music for a look at the undergraduate experience for students in the Jazz Studies, Music Industry, Music Production and Popular Music Performance programs.
- “The Classical Experience” (10:00 AM in Ramo Recital Hall): Join faculty and current students from the Division of Classical Performance and Composition for a look at the undergraduate experience for students in the Choral Music, Classical Guitar, Composition, Organ, Piano, Strings, Vocal Arts and Winds & Percussion programs.
- Mix and Mingle (11:15 AM immediately following the division sessions): Join us immediately following The Contemporary Experience and The Classical Experience sessions to continue connecting with faculty, current students, and representatives from the Thornton Admission and Student Affairs Office.
- This full-day open house is ideal for families wishing to visit campus on a weekend. Attend campus and residence hall tours, various information sessions and connect directly with the Thornton School at the following sessions:
Observe a Class/Rehearsal
Admitted students interested in observing a class or rehearsal may refer to the below approved class visit list. Please follow all instructions closely and pay special attention to any additional instructions in the “Notes from Faculty” section on the approved list.
Attend a USC Thornton Performance
USC Thornton has a variety of exciting events happening throughout April and almost all are free and open to the public (but may require an RSVP).
Virtual Admitted Student Events
- USC Thornton Current Student Panels | Wednesday, April 9 @ 5PM PT and Monday, April 21 @ 5PM PT
- Join USC Thornton Student Ambassadors for a Q&A panel to learn more about the Thornton student experience. This virtual session is designed for undergraduate students admitted to a Thornton major and will be hosted online, via Zoom. A registration is required to attend.
