Alphonso Johnson speaks “Off the Podium”
Bassist Alphonso Johnson, a member of the USC Thornton Jazz Studies faculty, was recently featured as a guest on the Off the Podium podcast, hosted by Tigran Arakelyan. Johnson, who has performed with Santana, Weather Report, George Duke, and Wayne Shorter, among many others, spoke about the renewed focus on his own education after his children had grown up and left the house. The episode also explores his recent trip to Germany, his teaching at USC and other schools, and his hobbies.
