Arnold Steinhardt visits USC Thornton for chamber music masterclass

Renowned violinist Arnold Steinhardt, a founding member of the Guarneri String Quartet, visited USC Thornton for a chamber music masterclass on Feb. 20 at Simon Ramo Recital Hall. Steinhardt, who is a professor of violin and chamber music at Bard College, Curtis Institute, The Colburn School and University of Maryland, coached three student chamber groups, offering lessons on tone, balance, and quality of the sound. “I must add: it was really a pure pleasure to hear every one of these accomplished student groups perform,” wrote Laurie Niles in a feature on Violinist.com. “They’d already achieved a high level, and then they responded to Steinhardt’s suggestions wholeheartedly, with immediate effect.”
