Clara Kim presents opening concert in Hawai’i Public Radio classical music series

On Aug. 9, violinist and USC Thornton alumna Clara Kim (DMA ’15) presented the opening concert in Hawai’i Public Radio’s (HPR) classical music series, “Live from the Atherton.” Leading up to her performance, Kim was interviewed by HPR’s DW Gibson on the importance of collaboration in music.

“It’s amazing to work on pieces by Bach or Mozart or Beethoven, but a part of me wonders: What would they have been like in real life, and what would they have been like as a friend or as somebody in their community?” Kim said. “I have the chance to work with people who are creating beautiful pieces of music and are influenced by the things we see around us all the time, so that’s certainly a part of the thrill of what I love about what I do.”

Clara Kim is a performer, chamber musician, and educator known for her bold programming and dedication to championing the work of living composers.
