The USC Thornton winds and percussion department presents celebrated bassoonist David Seidel who leads a masterclass with current Thornton students.
Born in Salzburg, Austria, Seidel is professor of bassoon at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Institute of Oberschützen). He was principal bassoon of the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra from from 1998 until 2019. He has performed with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, among many other celebrated ensembles, and he is a co-founder of several chamber music ensembles including the Vienna Bass&oon Quartet and Theophil Ensemble Wie. He studied under Milan Turkovic, Yoshinori Tominaga and Richard Galler at the Mozarteum University Salzburg.
