Guest conductor Maximiano Valdes leads the USC Thornton Symphony in Ravel’s Alborada Del Gracioso, Altar de Viento by Gabriela Ortiz, and Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony in D minor. 

The Chilean conductor is music director of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. Recently ending a 16-year tenure as music director of the Orquesta Sinfonica del Principado de Asturias in Spain and now the orchestra’s conductor laureate, he is also the former music director of the Buffalo Philharmonic.

Admission is free and open to the public.
