The USC Polish Music Center is home to the world-renowned manuscripts of Henryk Wars (1902-1977), Poland’s foremost film composer of the inter-war era, whose manuscripts at USC were just honored by UNESCO. Join us in Newman Recital Hall on Sunday, October 20 at 7 p.m., when a talented ensemble of USC Thornton students will perform a selection of Wars’ greatest hits in their original arrangements, transporting the audience back to 1930s Warsaw.
In addition to this concert event, there will be a film screening of Zapomniana melodia [Forgotten Melody], a 1938 Polish film with score by Wars, presented in Norris Cinema Theatre at 3:30 p.m. A champagne reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. on USC's Moreton Fig patio to celebrate the 40th anniversary season of the USC Polish Music Center. There is a $50 admission fee for the champagne reception.
