Michael Mennell

Adjunct Instructor


Michael Mennell is a Southern California-based bassist and vocalist. He has maintained a 22-plus year teaching career in Los Angeles, and he continues to mentor young players and singers while maintaining a full schedule of recording sessions, live engagements, and tours.

Mennell has recorded with artists including John Fogerty, Billy F. Gibbons, Keith Urban, Joe Bonamassa, Coco Montoya, (Alligator Records’ “Coming In Hot”), and for producers Kevin Shirley and Kevin Killen. He has played live with Sir Tom Jones, American Idol-winner Taylor Hicks (The Ellen Show, Regis & Kelly), Kenny Loggins, and Marc Ford of the Black Crowes, among others.

An active studio musician, he has performed in numerous sessions for film and television including the songs of Jimmy Buffet in Contact, and music for Wheel of Fortune.

A graduate of the University of Miami Frost School of Music, he lives near Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.
