Music Industry student Olivia Langford places third in America’s Next Top Hitmaker competition
USC Thornton Music Industry student Olivia Langford (Olivia Mae) has placed third in her group in America’s Next Top Hitmaker competition, powered by Colossal. The winner will receive $10,000, an appearance in Rolling Stone, a performance at Rolling Stone’s Future of Music Showcase and a mentoring session with Busta Rhymes. In her interview for the competition, Langford shared her musical inspirations and the meaning behind her music.
“Through my music, I convey authenticity and vulnerability, as each song I write is a reflection of my own experiences. Songwriting isn’t just about crafting a catchy melody; it’s about creating stories that resonate universally,” Langford said. “My song, ‘Your Friend & My Ex,’ explores the complexities of falling in and out of love with a heartbeat-like melody and instrumentation resembling my emotional journey. I aim to create music that offers a sense of belonging to embrace your truest self.”
