Remi Wolf announces third album “Mud”, shares new singles “Twiggy” and “Bottle”
USC Thornton Popular Music alum Remi Wolf (‘18) is entering a bold new chapter. The pop artist has announced her third album Mud, with singles “Twiggy” and “Bottle” out now.
Reflecting on the making of the record, Wolf shared that she feels she’s crossed into a new phase of life because of this album — describing the process as cleansing after feeling “covered in shit” at the outset. “I made Mud with some of my closest friends and family, and I think because I felt so safe with them, I could kind of crack my chest open and let whatever was in there crawl out. Sometimes it was really sad, sometimes it was disgusting, sometimes it was hilarious. There was no pressure to make myself make sense. I could just be. We followed whatever felt alive. I think that’s why the record feels the way it does. It’s emotional and messy and joyful and full of love,” Wolf shares.
The album emerged from a period of reflection after years spent in constant motion. Early sessions in Nashville gave way to a retreat to Big Bear with longtime collaborator Jared Solomon and a small circle of trusted friends, including Jack DeMeo, Jamie McLaughlin, and Gigi Grombacher. Days were spent writing songs, making family dinners, and passing microphones across the kitchen while ideas unfolded naturally, evolving into what Wolf affectionately describes as a “family band.”
