ENSEMBLES
Thornton Edge continues to explore the shifting landscape of modern sounds with the School of Music’s most intrepid and skilled performers. Welcomed at the well-established Los Angeles series Monday Evening Concerts and at the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s innovative Green Umbrella series, the award-winning ensemble has toured internationally in Berlin, Paris, and Lyons.
Donald Crockett is professor and chair of the composition department and director of Thornton Edge at the USC Thornton School of Music, and senior composer-in-residence with the Chamber Music Conference and Composers Forum of the East.
Under Crockett’s longstanding curation, Edge has premiered countless works and its performers have enjoyed mentorship by composers such as Witold Lutoslawski; John Harbison; Henryk Górecki; Joan Tower; Steven Stucky and Judith Weir as well as members of the USC Thornton composition faculty.
Thornton Edge continues to collaborate and invest in contemporary music via its annual concerts at USC; in studio sessions; and on album recordings.
