Thornton musicians bring holiday cheer to concerts across L.A. area

Thornton faculty, alumni and students are bringing the holiday cheer to Los Angeles County this month and next through a multitude of holiday concerts.

The USC Thornton Department of Choral and Sacred Music presents its annual Winter Gala, a special livestreamed event, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. The New Hollywood String Quartet, featuring Thornton Strings Department faculty member Andrew Shulman, will host The Vienna Holiday Concerts Dec. 17-19 at The Huntington Library in San Marino.

Two Button Brass, comprising five Thornton students and alumni, will perform as part of Winter at USC Village on Dec. 18 at 1:30 p.m. On Jan. 8 at 8 p.m., concertmaster of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) and Thornton Strings Department faculty member Margaret Batjer will lead LACO in Strings for the Ages, a program highlighting works from the Baroque era to the 20th century.
