Curlew River & Orfeo ed Euridice

About

The USC Thornton Opera Program and USC Thornton Symphony present a double-bill of one-act operas, Benjamin Britten’s Curlew River and Christoph Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice. These contrasting operas, composed 300 years apart, tell stories of love, loss, suffering and redemption that continue to resonate today. Set in a Skid Row Neighborhood in downtown Los Angeles, the transformational river crossing of each story is captured within a homeless encampment. Join the singer-actors of the Thornton Vocal Arts & Opera Department and Instrumentalists of the Thornton Symphony for this deeply thoughtful evening of opera theater.
