Thornton students and alumnus accepted into Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s Choral Conductors’ Symposium

Marcus Desir and Ann Chen, USC Thornton master’s students in choral & sacred music, and Sarah Maria Leung (’15), a Thornton choral & sacred music alumnus, were recently accepted into the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s Choral Conductors’ Symposium. Each year, the program selects five emerging conductors to come to Toronto to study with Jean-Sébastien Vallée, the artistic director of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir (TMC), in a five-day series of workshops and masterclasses. During this time, participants get the opportunity to work with the TMC, as well as the 20-voice TMC professional core ensemble, in rehearsals and a concluding public performance on Feb. 5.
