Anders Peterson wins second prize in clarinet competition

USC Thornton clarinet performance major Anders Peterson won second prize in the classical clarinet category of the 2022 Vandoren Emerging Artist (VEA) Solo Competition. The VEA competition began in 2010 as a way to identify the next generation of great clarinetists and saxophonists and acknowledge them for their talent, hard work and artistry. As the second-prize winner, Peterson receives a $250 cash award and a Vandoren product package including a mouthpiece, ligature and reeds.

Peterson is a member of the internationally acclaimed studio of Yehuda Gilad, as well as both the Thornton Symphony and Thornton Winds. Last year, he was invited to compete in the 2021 International Crusell Festival in Finland, and he was named a winner of the Spring 2021 Philadelphia International Music Festival Virtual Concerto Competition.
