ENSEMBLES

The USC Thornton Concert Choir performs repertoire from a wide range of eras and styles, exploring the music and traditions of countries from around the world. The ensemble has enjoyed a long tradition of excellence in choral music with performances at regional, national, and international festivals.
Concert Choir’s notable film music collaborations include works by distinguished film composers such as John Williams and Howard Shore. The ensemble’s choral masterworks performances include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Bach’s Mass in B Minor and Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms. Appearances at Walt Disney Concert Hall as part of the USC Thornton Choral Artists include Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess; Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna; Britten’s War Requiem; and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy.
Concert Choir contains approximately 50 auditioned singers, conducted by faculty member Dr. Tram Sparks along with an Assistant Conductor.

Concert Choir conductor Tram Sparks is a professor of practice at the School of Music.

Concert Choir is offered at USC Thornton through the Choral Music Program.
Concert Choir typically performs concerts throughout the academic year, including the Winter Gala together with all departmental ensembles.
