Award-winning composer for both film and television, USC Thornton Screen Scoring faculty member Laura Karpman possesses a storied educational pedigree, matched only by her professional success. After undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan with renowned composers William Bolcom and Leslie Bassett, Karpman received her masters and doctoral degrees from the Julliard School, under the tutelage of the peerless Milton Babbitt.
Professionally, Karpman has received four Emmy Awards and an additional seven nominations, was named one of the most important women in Hollywood by Variety magazine, founded the Alliance for Women Film Composers, and was recently invited to become a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
