    April 24: Title of Performance.

    USC Thornton Opera and Uniarts Helsinki’s Sibelius Academy collaborate on the world premiere of an opera chronicling the Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion. This opera by Finnish composer Uljas Pulkkis with American librettist Glenda Dawn Goss tells a story of fundamental human conflicts woven into events surrounding the social and environmental disaster that occurred on April 26, 1986.

    Before the April 22 performance, join faculty from both Thornton and the Sibelius Academy, along with the opera’s composer and librettist, at 7 p.m. for a discussion presented by USC Visions & Voices.
