Annenberg Media spotlights H.E.R. Signature Series event

On Sept. 15, Annenberg Media spotlighted USC Thornton’s Signature Series event featuring five-time Grammy-winning artist, H.E.R., in conversation with Dean Jason King. Thornton students Lionna Romans, Rachel Barton, Joshua Grossman, Eyen Paredes and Jaden Lehman surprised H.E.R. and the audience with a performance of the artist’s hit songs, “Best Part” and “The Journey.”

“As the academic journey of these seniors at USC Thornton School of Music comes to an end, they are excited to add one more impressive performance to their repertoires,” wrote journalists Melie Haile and Emily Geigh Nichols.

During the event, H.E.R. discussed her musical journey from childhood and answered student questions about being an artist.

“There will never not be an opportunity to use your voice. There will always be an opportunity where there is a struggle, where there is human suffering, and that’s not going to end,” she said.
