Sue Elliott joins Calgary Opera as general director and CEO
Sue Elliott (MM ‘98), a USC Thornton Winds & Percussion alumna, was appointed as general director and CEO of the Calgary Opera in Calgary, Alberta. She will partner with artistic director Jonathan Brandani to realize the company’s mission of providing the community with diverse operas, educational programs, artist training and more.
“I have long admired Calgary Opera, whose successes commissioning new work, nurturing Canadian artists, and producing engaging performances and programs has cemented its reputation as one of the country’s most innovative and ambitious arts organizations,” Elliott said. “There is a unique enthusiasm for opera here, and I look forward to collaborating with Jonathan, the Board of Directors, professional staff, artists, donors, audiences, and community members in realizing an even brighter future for this dynamic and distinguished company.”
Elliott has worked in the fields of music education, community engagement, creative program building and distance learning with numerous arts organizations, including the Tanglewood Learning Institute, Houston Grand Opera, Seattle Opera, Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music and Glimmerglass Opera.
