Ambrose Akinmusire profiled by NPR Music, DownBeat Magazine

Jazz Studies faculty and USC Thornton alumnus Ambrose Akinmusire was recently interviewed by NPR Music to promote the release of his upcoming album, the imagined savior is far easier to paint. Akinmusire is also featured on the cover of the April 2014 edition of DownBeat Magazine. Speaking to NPR, Akinmusire compared the stages of his musical career to chapters in a book. “There’s the chapter of being taken to jam sessions and to flea markets by the local musicians, and after that there was school,” he explained. “You meet different people along the way. For me, when you look back, everybody’s really important, just in different ways.”
