Andrew Leff featured on NPR’s Marketplace

Music Industry faculty member Andrew Leff was quoted in an article for NPR’s Marketplace about streaming royalties. The piece discussed the current streaming industry, its effects on musicians, and SoundCloud’s new efforts to support artists with fan-powered royalties. Leff made a point that part of the issue with streaming is that our current society sees music as something that should be cheap. “The obvious solution is that everybody needs to be paying at least $10 a month. It makes no sense at all. It’s the only business in major media that gives away so much of its product for free,” he said.
