Argus appointed quartet-in-residence at Yale School of Music

The Los Angeles-based Argus Quartet, which includes three USC Thornton students and alumni – Clara Kim (DMA ’15, violin), Jason Issokson (MM ’10, violin) and Diana Wade (GCRT ’13, viola) – has been appointed the quartet-in-residence at the Yale School of Music. The ensemble will be mentored by the Brentato Quartet and will coach undergraduate chamber music students at the school, from which the quartet’s fourth member, cellist Joann Whang, is an alumna.

Argus was recently awarded a commission by Chamber Music America, a national network for ensemble musicians, to support the creation and performance of new chamber works by American composers.

The quartet has also launched an Argus in LA concert series, presenting new and established repertoire, in association with several Los Angeles arts organizations. The first concert, titled “Quartet Becomes Eclectic,” will take place at the USC Fisher Museum of Art on October 2 at 2pm, with free admission.
