Cardinal Winds sextet to perform in annual Clyde Montgomery Concert in Pasadena

The Cardinal Winds woodwind sextet will perform in the Clyde Montgomery Concert at Shumei Hall in Pasadena on March 29. The ensemble, which formed at USC Thornton in 2014, features Catherine Baker, flute (GCRT), Zachary Pulse, oboe (GCRT), Kelsi Doolittle, clarinet (MM), Alex Garcia, bassoon (MM ’13), Carrie Rexroat, horn (MM) and Hedy Lee, piano (DMA ‘13).

Recipients of the 2014-2015 Max H. Gluck Foundation Fellowship, the group is well-regarded for its outreach efforts, including special performances for veterans groups, elder communities and children’s hospitals, as well as collaborations with the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles.

The concert program will feature the world-premiere of “Aria of Winds” for woodwind quartet by Emmy Award-winning composer, Stephen Cohn, as well as works by Francis Poulenc and Ludwig Thuille. The event will be held at Shumei Hall (2430 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena) on Sunday, March 29, 2:00 p.m., with free admission.
