Dale Trumbore shares virtual chorus experience in The Voice of OC

Dale Trumbore (MM ‘11), an alum of USC Thornton’s Composition program, was featured in The Voice of OC in an article about how the Orange County Women’s Chorus adapted its programming to offer unique online events. Trumbore was commissioned to compose a new piece, “What We Hand Over,” for the chorus’s holiday event, and shares how she created the composition specially to suit members’ different remote recording styles and circumstances. “I really liked this idea of building different levels of participation,” she said.

Trumbore also speaks about how she hopes the experiences of the past year will continue to inform the music world in the future. “I hope that when the arts do return to live performance that they’re changed because of the conversations we’ve been having about justice and equality,” said Trumbore. “I also hope that the ease with which we can stay in touch can stay with us as well… We realize we’re not quite so distant from each other. I hope that feeling remains.”
