Folk-fusion band Grizfolk connects with USC Thornton students

Virgin Records’ Grizfolk, named an “Artist You Should Know” by KCRW, visited USC Thornton’s Popular Music Forum in April. The class, led by vice dean of the Division of Contemporary Music Chris Sampson, gives students access to a wide range of guests from the music industry.

“Grizfolk gave the students tremendous insight into the strategies and hard work a band needs to work successfully with a label,” Sampson said. “This is the type of experience that’s unique about USC Thornton because of our wonderful proximity and relationship with industry professionals. The members of Grizfolk and the team from Virgin Records were extremely generous in sharing their time and talents with my students. I know they took away a lot of valuable lessons from the class.”
