Music Industry alumna Isa Klar featured in Trojan Family Magazine

USC Thornton Music Industry alumna Isa Klar (‘23) was featured in Trojan Family Magazine about her hip-hop marketing career at one of the genre’s most acclaimed record labels, Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE). The story follows her trajectory from an intern and Thornton student to a full-time marketing staff member at TDE.

As an intern, Klar worked closely with rising hip-hop artist Doechii to create a deck for her forthcoming album, ultimately helping to secure a deal at Capitol Records. Klar’s skill for musician branding landed her a job offer from TDE before she completed her bachelor’s degree. Today, she builds decks for every TDE client, manages the artist Zacari, produces events and does digital marketing. Her story is an example of how Thornton’s Music Industry program is a foundational launching pad for students.

“I think I’ve been very lucky to get the opportunities in my life, including going to USC,” Klar said. “And I think it’s wrong not to capitalize on them. I am honestly one of those people that had said yes too much. I need to learn how to say no. But at this age and where I’m at with my career, where I’m at in life in general, I think it’s always better to keep saying yes.”
