Joanna Demers’ essay appears in Headphone Commute

Musicology Chair Joanna Demers’ essay, “Tim Hecker and Revisited Tragedy,” recently appeared in Headphone Commute, a periodical devoted to electronica. In addition to electronic musician and sound artist Tim Hecker’s latest album, Virgins, the essay also addresses tragic art. Demers is the author of two books, Listening Through the Noise: the Aesthetics of Experimental Electronic Music (Oxford University Press, October 2010) and Steal This Music: How Intellectual Property Law Affects Musical Creativity (University of Georgia Press, 2002).
