Las Vegas Philharmonic to premiere new piece by Juan Pablo Contreras

On November 20, the Las Vegas Philharmonic will perform the world premiere of a piece by USC Thornton Composition alum Juan Pablo Contreras (DMA ‘21) that celebrates Mexican-American communities. Contreras is a Latin Grammy-nominated composer whose work pairs Western classical music with Mexican folk music. Born in Guadalajara, Contreras is the first Mexican composer to sign a record deal with Universal Music, serve as the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra’s sound investment composer and win the Broadcast Music Inc. William Schuman Prize.
