Patrice Rushen interviewed by Reverb

Reverb recently featured Patrice Rushen, Chair of the Popular Music program, in an article titled, “Mastery Over Marketing: An Interview With Patrice Rushen.” In this article, the pop music icon and Thornton faculty member discusses her love for piano, her relationship to Quincy Jones, her compositional style and what it means to be a contemporary musician in the world today. Rushen also mentions what she enjoys about leading the Popular Music program. “The idea of being able to take what I have done and what I’ve learned … [and] developing curriculum for the contemporary music side … is kind of cool,” she said.
