Sarah Gibson receives LACO Sound Investment commission
Sarah Gibson (MM ’10, DMA ’15), a USC Thornton alumna and a member of the school’s Composition faculty, has been selected as Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra’s Sound Investment composer for the 2018-19 season. Previous recipients of Sound Investment commissions include Ted Hearne, Matthew Aucoin, Ellen Reid, and Andrew Norman, now LACO’s creative advisor & composer-in-residence.
Gibson will premiere a new work with the ensemble on January 26th and 27th, 2019, following several invitation-only salon performances for LACO patrons. Winner of ASCAP and National Federation of Music Clubs awards, Gibson regularly performs in the HOCKET piano duo with Thornton alumnus Thomas Kotcheff (MM ’12, Composition) and is the Lead-Teaching Artist for the esteemed Nancy and Barry Sanders Los Angeles Philharmonic Composer Fellowship Program.
