Scoring for Motion Picture and Television (SMPTV) chair Daniel Carlin moderated and presented 11 masterclasses at the 7th annual Krakow Film Music Festival, which took place from September 25 through 28, 2014.
Carlin also co-led a sequence of recording/scoring workshops for finalists in the FMF Young Talent Award competition with SMPTV faculty and USC Thornton alumnus Garry Schyman. In addition to the workshop with Carlin, Schyman lead a seminar on composing for video games, as well as sat on a panel about composition with fellow composers Hans Zimmer, Patrick Doyle, Dario Marianelli, and Elliot Goldenthal.
Carlin, who began the Krakow master classes last year, said of the festival, “We don’t have anything like this in America. It’s a real tribute to the festival, the city and to Poland.”
